Decorating with Thrift Store and Yard Sale Finds

I just love my kitchen nook. I decorated it with finds from yard sales and thrift stores. I designed the room around the kitchen table and chair set that I found at a yard sale. The set only cost me $20. I couldn’t believe the price and was so excited to bring it home. To spruce up the set I gave it a good wash (the set was very dirty from sitting in a garage for over a year) and then recovered the fabric in a light floral pattern. I took an old hutch that I bought from a friend for $75 and painted it white. This piece has great storage for my holiday dishware and wine glasses. I just love having room to display all my glassware that I have collected over the years. I wanted this room to have a shabby chic feel and was on the lookout for a chandelier. I found one at a yard sale and paid $10. All it needed was a good dusting and new light bulbs. It really looks great in the space and ties in well with the table set. To tie the room together I displayed several floral art pieces that I collected from various yard sales and thrift shops. These pieces were very inexpensive and ranged from 50 cents to $12.00. The yellow daisy artwork was only 50 cents and I found the frame at a thrift shop for $2.00. All the other artwork I left in its original frames. Both plate racks I found in a dumpster outside of a salvation army (can’t believe the racks got thrown out – but lucky me J). I used the racks to display plates that I already owned.
The total cost to decorate and furnish the room was $160.00 (not including the dishware that I already owned).

This space is great for my morning coffee.

Fabric Art

I created this artwork from a large panel of fabric wrapped over an artist canvas. This project was fun and very easy. I did this piece for an office makeover for my boss for bosses day last year.

Following my dream of design

Welcome to my new blog! I was inspired by a very good friend who began her blog over a year ago. This blog is my portal of displaying my design creations of all things pastel. I am hoping this blog will keep me inspired to create and to share my creations for all who love to create and be inspired like me.
